The Felixstowe Rapist, a 48-year-old man, Andrew Grinham, has received an 18-year prison sentence following his conviction for rape and assault offences.
Andrew Grinham, residing on Waveney Road in Felixstowe, was convicted by a jury on 29 May 2025 of two charges of rape and three counts of assault resulting in actual bodily harm (ABH) following an eight-day trial.
On Tuesday, 22 July, Andrew Grinham was sentenced to 13 years’ jail, with an extended licence period of five years, at Ipswich Crown Court on the charges of rape. He received a three-year concurrent sentence for inflicting actual bodily harm (ABH).
Andrew Grinham was subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and an indefinite Restraining Order, and has been permanently registered on the Sex Offenders Register.
The charges pertained to a single victim, a woman, and occurred over multiple years.
Detective Constable Jennifer Botting, the officer in charge of the case, said: “Andrew Grinham carried out horrific abuse to his victim, causing long-lasting effects that have impacted her life and those around her.
“I want to commend her for the extraordinary courage she has shown in coming forward and seeing this case through to the end. We hope today’s outcome brings some measure of justice and reassurance – not only to the victim in this case, but to others who may be suffering in silence.
“I would also like to thank DC James Lait, who was the initial officer in charge of the case before I took on the investigation. His team progressed enquiries over a prolonged period to ensure we were able to reach the right outcome of the victim.
