In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Alun Waterhouse, the Chesterfield Paedophile Sex Offender, was contributing to the establishment of a market that facilitates the sexual exploitation of children as young as six years old.

Derby Crown Court was informed that Alun Waterhouse, then 48, associated with Chesterfield Alehouse on West Bars, was apprehended for downloading more than 20,000 indecent photos of children.

Prosecuting barrister Ms Eddie Leonard stated: “These offences were uncovered due to information obtained by the police regarding the internet address utilised by this defendant for sharing with peer-to-peer groups.”

“On June 19 of the previous year, they visited the defendant’s residence located on Spencer Street, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, and engaged in conversation with him.”

Alun Waterhouse unequivocally confessed to the charges following his arrest, after the search of his residence and the confiscation of his electronic devices.

The defendant, residing on Spencer Street in Chesterfield, informed the police that he had been downloading internet photographs of minors for the past decade.

He stated that the photos would appear when he was searching for adult pornography, after which he searched for and saved them on his computer.

Ms Leonard stated that there were ten photos and fifty films in category A, 116 images and thirty-eight films in category B, and 24,496 images and forty-nine films in category C.

Category A matters encompassed those aged six to 14 being raped and tortured, category B problems involved those aged 10 to 13, and category C matters pertained to individuals aged 12 to 14.

Alun Waterhouse, having never been caught before, admitted to three counts of producing obscene images of minors, with the offences occurring between November 2012 and June 2018.

Alun Waterhouse received a 16-month custodial term, suspended for two years, accompanied by a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement and 160 hours of community service.

He was additionally mandated to pay £300 in expenses and informed that a victim surcharge would also be applicable.

Recorder Evans cautioned Alun Waterhouse that failure to adhere to his suspended sentence would result in incarceration.

Alun Waterhouse was additionally subjected to a ten-year Sexual Offences Protection Order.
