In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Alejandro Alvarez, then 63, of Sevenfields, Highworth, Wiltshire, was jailed for four and a half years at Swindon Crown Court. Alvarez, an Argentinean national and guitar teacher, admitted to “reprehensible” and “grave” sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl that occurred between 2002 and 2003.
The investigation revealed that Alvarez, who was then nearly 50, used his position as a family acquaintance in Wroughton to groom the child. He “maliciously” subjected her to “abominable” indecent assaults, including “degrading” sexual acts. When arrested, Alvarez immediately admitted his “depraved” behaviour, even disclosing “significant” offences beyond those initially alleged by the victim.
Devastating Impact and Criminal History
The court reported that the victim, now in her late 20s, has suffered “profound” long-term harm, including eating disorders and social anxiety. She stated that the “abhorrent” abuse “ruthlessly” robbed her of her childhood.
The prosecution reported that Alvarez was a repeat offender. In 2007, he was convicted of “shameful” outraging public decency after performing a sexual act in front of teenage girls on a bus. Despite his defence describing him as a “talented musician,” Judge Robert Pawson emphasised the “extreme” vulnerability of the 13-year-old victim and the “predatory” grooming process involved.
Sentence and Lifetime Registration
Alvarez pleaded guilty to three counts of indecent assault. For his “heinous” crimes in Highworth, Wroughton, and Swindon, Alejandro Alvarez was:
- Sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
- Placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
- Subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Monitoring and Public Protection
Alvarez is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Wiltshire Police. His residency in Highworth, Wiltshire, and his “sinister” history remain under “critical” scrutiny.
As a lifetime member of the Sex Offenders Register, Alvarez must comply with notification requirements upon his release. Wiltshire Police emphasise that “menacing” predators who target children will face “weighty” justice. Any further “perverted” behaviour or breach of his SHPO will result in his immediate return to Swindon Crown Court.
