In January 2026, the Offender Database reported that Aled Williams, 52, of Felindre, Llandysul, Carmarthenshire, was sentenced to nine years at Swansea Crown Court. Williams, a serial sex offender, was caught in a massive breach of his existing court orders, involving the grooming of multiple children and the possession of horrific abuse material.

The court heard that Williams had been under a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) since May 2018, following a previous conviction. Despite this, an investigation by Dyfed-Powys Police revealed he had been making indecent images of children between December 2017 and September 2025. These files included Category A material—the most severe classification depicting the rape and torture of children—as well as Category B and C images. On September 10, 2025, officers also found him in possession of 60 extreme pornographic images depicting bestiality and eight prohibited images of children.

Williams further admitted to five counts of attempted sexual communication/online grooming of a child, with the earliest of these predatory attempts dating back to January 2024. The prosecution highlighted that Williams had “completely ignored” the restrictions of his SHPO to target five separate children online. Judge Paul Hobson described Williams as a significant danger to the public, noting that his continued interest in depraved material and active grooming demonstrated a high risk of reoffending.

Aled Williams was sentenced to an extended term of nine years, comprising three years in custody and a six-year extension period on licence. This “extended sentence” means he will be subject to intense supervision by the probation service for nearly a decade, even after his release from prison. The judge remarked that an immediate custodial term was necessary to reflect the “depravity” of his repeated offending.

As a result of his convictions for child grooming, possession of child rape imagery, and bestiality, Williams has been ordered to register as a sex offender for life. He is managed under the highest level of Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) in Carmarthenshire. The court also imposed a new, indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which places permanent, legally enforceable bans on his use of the internet and his contact with minors to safeguard the community.
