Alan Todd, an Edinburgh paedophile rapist, has been incarcerated for perpetrating a series of sexual abuses against three young children.
On 28 October 2024, Alan Todd was convicted of five crimes after a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh. The 54-year-old committed offences at multiple locations in Edinburgh from 2001 to 2019.
The victims were between the ages of seven and thirteen when the abuse commenced. The cleaner was discovered to have focused on the initial two children while they were slumbering in their beds.
He additionally composed inappropriate letters and a card to one of the victims, declaring his affection for her and expressing his desire to marry her. Alan Todd subsequently attacked the same youngster by grasping her throat.
He sexually attacked and raped the third victim, who was under 13 years old, frequently over a span of three years.
Alan Todd was apprehended and indicted in May 2020.
On 27 November 2024, at the High Court in Edinburgh, Alan Todd was given a 13-year extended sentence with 10 years in custody. His name has been added to the sex offenders register indefinitely.
Non-harassment orders, banning Todd from contacting or attempting to contact the victims, were granted for a period of 15 years.
Procurator fiscal for High Court sexual offending, Katrina Parkes, said: “Alan Todd posed a danger to young children by exploiting a position of trust in the worst possible way.
“The trauma these victims suffered was at the forefront of our minds during this prosecution. It is thanks to the bravery of those affected by Todd’s offending that he has now been brought to justice.
