A man, Alan Johnson Ormskirk Paedophile, has been incarcerated for rape and many indecent assaults on minors that occurred almost 50 years ago in Lowestoft.
Alan Johnson, a 71-year-old resident of Holmeswood in Ormskirk, was sentenced to 13 years in prison at Norwich Crown Court on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
He entered a guilty plea to one count of child rape and eleven counts of indecent assault against children during a prior court session on 26 November 2024.
The assaults occurred between 1975 and 1981 against two teenage girls in the Lowestoft region.
Alan Johnson was indicted for the charges in July 2024 following allegations that emerged in January 2022, when a victim bravely disclosed the abuse that had afflicted her for a significant portion of her life.
One of the victims in her personal testimony remarked: “It deprived me of every joyful and mundane moment that others may take for granted, as well as the rites of passage that others relish.”
Alan Johnson was issued a restraining order against both victims and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for a duration of 10 years upon his release.
District of Columbia Hannah Baggott from the Safeguarding and Investigations Unit in Lowestoft stated: “These two victims deserve commendation for their bravery in coming forward and their courage in supporting the investigation.” In the absence of their assistance, it is improbable that these convictions would have been attained. I sincerely hope the sentence issued today offers a degree of closure and enables them to go with their lives.
This inquiry was exceptionally tough and demanding, spanning six years from the mid to late 1970s and early 1980s, necessitating considerable patience, persistence, and sensitivity.
“Alan Johnson may have believed that he had gotten away with the abuse he subjected these victims to, but this case will show that it does not matter how much time passes, Suffolk police is committed to fully investigating any allegation of sexual assault, recent or historic and will provide the highest level of support and care to any victim whilst a thorough investigation is carried out.”
