In 2022, Alan Anthony Rothwell, the Wallsend Rapist and Sex Offender, confessed to abducting and attempting to sexually assault a woman in her sixties in a park sexually.
The victim was discovered in a state of distress at Rising Sun Country Park, located near Wallsend, North Tyneside, on 28 March.
Alan Anthony Rothwell, 34, homeless, confessed to kidnapping, attempted rape, two counts of sexual assault, and the theft of a mobile phone and £5.
Alan Anthony Rothwell was detained in custody at Newcastle Crown Court and is scheduled to be sentenced in July.
The victim, assisted by specially-trained cops, was discovered by a member of the public at Pit Heap around 16:10 BST.
The police intensified patrols in the vicinity after the assault to instil confidence in the community.
