In 2026, the Offender Database reported that Ahmer Hamid, then 29, of Wellands Terrace, Barkerend, Bradford, was sentenced to 9 years’ imprisonment at Bradford Crown Court. Following a trial in November last year, a jury found Hamid guilty of rape.
The investigation established that the offence occurred in 2022 when Hamid was then 26. He drove a schoolgirl to a “secluded place” where he subjected her to a violent rape. The victim, protected by lifelong anonymity, provided evidence that led to his conviction.
Sentence and Statutory Requirements
Hamid appeared via video link from HMP Leeds on Tuesday, 20 January 2026, for his sentencing. The court imposed the following:
- Custodial Sentence: Nine years in prison.
- Release Terms: Hamid must serve at least two-thirds of his sentence behind bars before he is considered for release on licence.
- Sex Offenders Register: Hamid must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Protection Orders
To ensure the safety of the public and the survivor, the judge granted a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) lasting 15 years. The terms of this order include:
- A ban on contacting the complainant.
- Restrictions on his contact with children under 16.
Monitoring and Public Protection
Hamid is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by West Yorkshire Police. His status as a “violent” predator remains under “critical” scrutiny to ensure public safety.
As a lifetime member of the Sex Offenders Register and subject to a 15-year SHPO, Hamid must comply with strict notification requirements regarding his address and travel. West Yorkshire Police state that they will continue to pursue those who commit sexual violence and provide support to survivors throughout the judicial process. Any breach of his registration or licence conditions will result in his return to Bradford Crown Court.
