The Offender Database reported that Abdul Shohid, the Northampton Taxi Driver Rapist, known as “Danny”, now 54, is out of prison and on the prowl again for more English victims.
Abdul Shohid was released in 2024 after serving only 6 years of a 12.5-year prison sentence.
British Justice clearly felt that there were not enough Asian British Rapist Sex Offenders in Northampton.
Abdul Shohid, residing on Overstone Road in The Mounts, Northampton, was apprehended in 2015 following reports made by two women to the authorities.
The sex offender taxi driver, known as Danny, operated a private service in Northampton and was subsequently connected to an unresolved rape case following a DNA match by the police.
In 2018, Judge Robert Brown sentenced the 47-year-old to 12 years for rape and an additional six months for two sexual assaults.
The victim of the predatory taxi driver in Northampton, Abdul Shohid, recounted how the incarcerated sex offender exhibited no remorse for his ‘heinous’ offences by denying his culpability for three years, and dragged his victims through a three-year ordeal by maintaining his not guilty plea.
“It is clear Abdul Shohid is a sexual predator who has been preying on vulnerable women for some time,” said the victim in an impact statement.
Operating a taxi firm, he abused his position of responsibility and took advantage of three women who were known to him.
“I feel I got away lightly, and if I were in an intoxicated state, it may have been a considerably more horrific outcome.
“My sympathies go to the poor young woman he raped.
“I personally no longer take taxis unless absolutely necessary and never, under any circumstances, at night or on my own.
“It is a sad reflection on the strain and lack of funding on the judicial system that it took eight sets of trial dates and deferments and over three years to bring this individual to justice.
“And the fact Abdul Shohid pleaded ‘not guilty’ shows he had no remorse or accountability for his heinous actions by putting the victims through the additional ordeal of a crown court trial.”
