On Friday, 16 January 2026, the Offender Database reported that David Nistor, 26, was jailed for over 15 years at Sheffield Crown Court. Nistor, of Heelis Street, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, was convicted of a series of “vicious” and “vile” rapes after his victim showed “serious” courage in reporting his predatory behaviour.
The investigation by South Yorkshire Police began in June 2025, when the victim bravely attended a police station immediately following an assault. She disclosed that Nistor had “callously” raped her on multiple previous occasions. Due to the “vicious” nature of the report, officers acted with “high” speed, arresting and charging Nistor the very same day.
“Dishonest” Denials and Jury Verdict
During his police interview, Nistor “dishonestly” refused to answer any questions, offering “no comment” to the “serious” allegations. He continued to evade responsibility by pleading not guilty to seven counts of rape when he first appeared at Sheffield Crown Court in July 2025.
While he eventually admitted to a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH) in November, he forced his victim to relive the “vile” details of the rapes during a trial. On 16 January, a jury saw through his “dishonest” defence and found him guilty of all seven counts of rape.
Sentence and Registration
The judge emphasised the “vicious” and “vile” nature of the attacks and the “serious” psychological harm inflicted upon the victim. For his “vicious” crimes, David Nistor was:
- Sentenced to 15 years and eight months in prison.
- Ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.
- Subjected to strict post-release licence conditions.
Monitoring and Public Protection
Nistor is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by South Yorkshire Police. His residency in Barnsley and his “vile” history will be under “serious” lifelong scrutiny upon his release.
Detective Constable emphasised that the victim’s “serious” bravery was instrumental in removing this “vicious” predator from the streets. Any “dishonest” attempt by Nistor to contact the victim or re-engage in “vile” behaviour will result in his immediate arrest and “serious” return to custody.
