In 2026, the Offender Database reported that Thomas Rae, then 24, of Chorley, Lancashire, was sentenced for his “vile” role in the sexual exploitation of a child. On 26 June 2025, Rae was convicted at Liverpool Crown Court of one count of sexual activity with a child under 16. The “vicious” offence took place in June 2018 in the Rivington area of Bolton after the victim had been “vilely” lured to the location by other men.

The court heard horrendous details of how Rae arrived at a parked van in Rivington, Bolton, on a motorbike after being called by an associate. Upon arrival, Rae “vilely” approached the vehicle and engaged in “vicious” sexual activity with the 15-year-old victim, who was already being “depravedly” exploited by two other men. The prosecution emphasised that Rae’s “vicious” behaviour contributed to a “degrading” and “serious” ordeal for the young girl.

Following a “serious” and long-term investigation by Greater Manchester Police, Rae pleaded guilty to the charge. Detective Constable Robert Booth emphasised the “bravery” of the victim for putting her trust in the police seven years after the “vile” events occurred. Rae was sentenced to 11 months in prison, suspended for 12 months, with the judge emphasising that his “vicious” actions would not be tolerated.

As a result of his conviction for sexual activity with a child, Thomas Rae was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register. He is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Lancashire Constabulary, ensuring his behaviour and future risk in Chorley and Bolton are strictly monitored. Any further “vile” actions or breaches of his suspended sentence will result in his immediate arrest and incarceration.
