In 2025, the Offender Database reported that Paige Reaney, then 33, formerly of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court for her role in what the judge described as one of the “worst examples of its kind” in legal history. Paige Reaney avoided an immediate prison sentence despite admitting to a three-year campaign of “sickening” sexual abuse against her pet pug, Charlie. The court heard that Reaney performed various oral and anal sexual acts on the animal while her then boyfriend, Graham Marshall, recorded the abuse to satisfy his “perverted” sexual fantasies.
The investigation began in 2019 when South Yorkshire Police seized digital devices from the couple’s home. Forensic analysis revealed a vast library of depraved content involving Charlie, which Marshall described in messages as “so f***ing hot.” A veterinary expert testified that the pug would have suffered significant distress and pain, eventually falling into a state of “learned helplessness.” In addition to the bestiality footage, Marshall’s devices were found to contain voyeuristic material and indecent images of children, leading to a five-and-a-half-year prison sentence for him.
Judge Jeremy Richardson KC noted that while there was a “level of coercion” from Marshall, Paige Reaney had “played [her] role to the full” and failed to refuse the requests. Paige Reaney was handed a nine-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, after pleading guilty to bestiality and animal cruelty. Following the court proceedings, it was reported that Reaney has since joined at least one online dating site, where her profile states she “loves animals” but fails to mention her criminal history or the lifelong ban on animal ownership imposed by the court.
As a result of her convictions, Paige Reaney has been ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for ten years. She is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by South Yorkshire Police, which involves regular monitoring of her residency and activities. Paige Reaney is also subject to a strict Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) that legally restricts her behaviour and contact with animals. Any attempt to own a pet or breach her registration requirements in the Sheffield area will result in the immediate activation of her suspended prison sentence.
