A 19-year-old guy, Lee Lancelott, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for raping a woman and exhibiting controlling or coercive behaviour.
Lee Lancelott was sentenced at Chester Crown Court on Friday, July 4, after being convicted of the offences following a four-day trial.
A restraining order was also issued prohibiting him from contacting the victim.
The court was informed that Lee Lancelott sexually assaulted the woman on 30 October 2024 at his residence and that from 1 January 2024 to 1 October 2024, he exerted control over her finances, social interactions, and attire. Lee Lancelott also restricted her movement, allowing her to leave the bedroom only for bathroom use during this period. The victim experienced worry and apprehension regarding her safety.
DS Vicki Greenhoff said:
“Firstly I’d like to thank the victim for bravely coming forward and supporting a prosecution against Lee Lancelott.
“His behaviour towards his victim was deplorable and he is now facing the consequences of his actions.
“No one deserves to be treated in this way and this conviction shows how seriously we take domestic abuse.
“I hope this gives others subjected to such abuse the courage to come forward to police, to report in confidence.”
