A 26-year-old British man, Kyle Clifford, the Enfield Rapist Killer, has entered a plea of not guilty to the murder of a BBC commentator’s wife and two of their daughters, and he is additionally charged with rape.
Kyle Clifford is charged with the murder and stabbing of 61-year-old Carol Hunt, the spouse of John Hunt, and the lethal shooting of 25-year-old Louise and 28-year-old Hannah Hunt with a crossbow at their residence in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on July 9.
Cambridge Crown Court was informed that the defendant faces an additional charge of rape, which was incorporated into the indictment on Thursday.
Kyle Clifford, from Enfield, north London, faces a further charge of wrongful imprisonment and two counts of possession of offensive weapons, specifically a crossbow and a 10-inch butcher’s knife.
Kyle Clifford, appearing via video link from HMP Belmarsh, pleaded not guilty to all allegations save the new count of rape, for which he has not yet been compelled to make a plea.
A prior court hearing revealed that Louise was discovered bound when cops arrived at the location.
Louise and Hannah Hunt had been shot with a crossbow, and their mother, Carol, had been stabbed with a knife and suffered multiple injuries, the court was told.
Mr Hunt and his third daughter, Amy, previously issued a statement following the incident, which said: “The devastation we are experiencing cannot be put into words.”
UPDATE 2025
Kyle Clifford was convicted of rape on Thursday, March 6, 2025, in relation to the murder of three women in Bushey, Hertfordshire.
Kyle Clifford, a 26-year-old unemployed individual previously residing on Rendlesham Road, Enfield, was convicted of raping Louise Hunt on 9 July 2024 after a trial at Cambridge Crown Court. The verdict was unanimous.
During a prior hearing on Wednesday, January 22, he entered a guilty plea to:
The murders of Carol Hunt (aged 61), Louise Hunt (aged 25) and Hannah Hunt (aged 28) in their family home on 9 July 2024.
One count of false imprisonment of Louise Hunt on 9 July 2024.
Two counts of possession of an offensive weapon.
Kyle Clifford refused to appear at court to face the charges, and the case was heard in his absence.
He will be sentenced on Tuesday (11 March).
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gardner from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “Kyle Clifford has been convicted today following a trial. There was overwhelming evidence that he had raped Louise Hunt as well as murdered her, her mother Carol and her sister Hannah. This was an appalling attack on a family.
“Kyle Clifford has remained a coward up until the end by refusing to appear at court and face up to his actions. Great lengths were made to ensure he could attend court, including the location chosen for the trial, but Clifford chose to stay away.
“In stark contrast, the Hunt family have shown extreme strength and dignity throughout. Our thoughts remain with them at this time.”
