The Offender Database reported that James Wadhawan, the Penzance and Lancing Paedophile, 35, received a Child Abduction Warning Notice (CAWN) in January 2024 due to allegations of inappropriate sexual interactions with a child.

Sussex Police released him on bail.

Then, on Saturday, 9 March 2024, police received a report that James Wadhawan was observed with the same child victim in Lancing.

Then on Wednesday, 13 March 2024, James Wadhawan was apprehended once more with the girl on a bridge in Lancing.

This time, Sussex Police arrested him again, and he was still facing two charges of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15 and one charge of child abduction.

This time, Sussex Police remanded him in custody.

James Wadhawan entered a guilty plea to all charges at Lewes Crown Court on 12 May and was subsequently sentenced to 10 years in prison at Hove Trial Centre on 1 July 2025.

He was also issued an indefinite restraining order against the victim and will be classified as a registered sex offender for life.

James Wadhawan was previously known as James Reading-Brown, growing up in Lancing, West Sussex. He has numerous social media profiles and mobile phone numbers. He has been to court many times over the years, but this is the first time he has been sent to prison.
