In 2021, Harry Simmonds, the East Cowes Paedophile, referred to as Baby Harry due to his propensity for wearing nappies, was incarcerated.
Harry Simmonds, residing at Harvey Close, East Cowes, appeared before the Isle of Wight Crown Court today (Tuesday).
During a prior hearing at the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court, the 22-year-old acknowledged two violations of a sexual risk order established in December 2020.
In September, Charles Nightingale, the prosecutor, informed the court that Harry Simmonds violated the injunction by communicating with a female under 18 from February 24 to March 1, 2021.
He admitted guilt to the act in September, having already initiated discussions with a second victim, aged 16.
The court was informed that first, he requested his girlfriend’s boyfriend’s contact information, but thereafter sent her images of himself wearing a nappy, accompanied by a placard declaring him a paedophile.
The girl informed the authorities, and following his police interview, Harry Simmonds promptly contacted her again under a pseudonym.
One Snapchat message indicated Harry Simmonds’s intention to assault her sexually.
The court was informed that Harry Simmonds had relocated from the Island to Dorset without notifying his offender manager.
His case was referred to the Isle of Wight Crown Court, with Mr Nightingale asserting that he posed a continuing risk to young individuals.
At the Isle of Wight Crown Court today, Judge Advocate Robert Hill characterised Harry Simmonds’ actions as profoundly peculiar and unsettling.
Oscar Vincent, in his defence, stated that pre-sentence reports clearly indicated that Harry Simmonds experienced considerable stress during his developmental years.
He reported experiencing mental, physical, and sexual abuse, along with a chaotic home and interrupted education.
Mr Vincent stated that it was unsurprising that Harry Simmonds could not sustain an independent adult existence.
He stated that Harry Simmonds’ behaviour originated from traumatic events, and activities such as wearing nappies provided him with a sense of comfort and security.
Harry Simmonds, who has multiple prior convictions and is currently awaiting sentencing for a distinct offence involving the transmission of obscene texts to a Dorset Echo news reporter, was sentenced to 18 months in prison, with the stipulation that he will serve half of that time on license. He has already spent a period in detention and is awaiting sentencing.
He was mandated to pay a premium of £156, and a notice requirement was appended to his existing sexual risk order, which is effective until 2025.
