In 2023, Garret Kelly, the Wandsworth Paedophile and London Underground employee, was apprehended by paedophile hunters while attempting to groom a 13-year-old girl for sexual purposes, during which he vowed to “deflower” her, according to court testimony.

Garret Kelly, 62, engaged in extensive correspondence with a girl named Saskia on Facebook and WhatsApp for six weeks prior to arranging a meeting at Paddington Station.

Garret Kelly had tidied his residence in anticipation of her visit, encouraged the schoolgirl to commence the use of contraceptive pills, and vowed “to initiate your sexual maturity.”

Garret Kelly was approached at the train station by an individual identifying as a paedophile hunter, who had fabricated Saskia’s identity online using a digitally altered, de-aged image of her own face.

On Wednesday at Southwark Crown Court, Judge Martin Griffith sentenced Kelly to 21 months’ imprisonment, with the term suspended for two years.

The court was informed that Garret Kelly, a London Underground employee for over 20 years, had been terminated from his position following his arrest in December of the previous year.

Prosecutor Carol Summers stated that Garret Kelly, a father of two, began chatting with Saskia on Facebook last October, where her profile explicitly indicated that she was 13 years old.

He provided his mobile phone number, and communication transitioned to WhatsApp, where numerous mentions were made regarding the girl’s school, mother, and homework.

Ms Summers stated, “He increasingly alluded to sexual contact, her attire, and bathing,” and noted that he enquired, “How effective were her sex education lessons?”

“He positioned himself as a confidant, a facilitator, and an educator.”

The prosecutor stated that Garret Kelly began alluding to “deflowering” the girl before mentioning their forthcoming meeting, during which he recommended she don stockings and a suspender belt.

In response to Saskia’s message expressing uncertainty about her feelings, Garret Kelly stated, “That’s acceptable; you are receptive to the notion and not resistant or averse to me.”

Ms Summers stated, “He was urging her to consult a physician to acquire contraception.”

On December 2, Garret Kelly journeyed from his residence in Tooting to the rendezvous, where he saw the paedophile hunter, who was recorded on camera, and evidence was subsequently submitted to the police.

In the police body-worn video, Garret Kelly exhibits clear anger and distress, stating, “They have tried and sentenced me,” and implying that he was misled over the absence of the girl’s mother.

Lee Sergent, representing Garret Kelly, implored the judge to refrain from imposing a prison sentence to facilitate community rehabilitation.

The repercussions of being apprehended have already been severe; he has forfeited his longstanding employment, and his connection with his two daughters is currently nonexistent.

This individual, confronted with these charges, is on the verge of surrendering.

Garret Kelly was mandated to complete 125 hours of community service and undergo 45 days of rehabilitation as a condition of his deferred prison term. He will be included in the sex offender registry and subjected to a sexual harm prevention order.

He admitted guilt to attempted sexual communication with a minor and attempted grooming.
