Tyrone Allert, the London Rapist, has been incarcerated following the abduction and attempted sexual assault of a woman in a vehicle in North London. Tyrone Allert, 37, has been characterised by law enforcement as a ‘violent predator’.
At around 11:40 AM on Sunday, July 24, 2022, the Metropolitan Police were alerted to a report of a man positioned at the rear of a white van on Marsh Lane, Haringey, with his pants lowered and a woman inside the van vociferating, ‘Help me.’ A further report to the police indicated that the same vehicle, operated by Allert, had collided with six vehicles on Warwick Road, N11, and had been directed towards a man who had just avoided injury.
Numerous police units were alerted, and an ANPR tracker was affixed to the car. The victim was subsequently found at a hospital in East London. Police discovered that she had sustained numerous injuries indicative of assault. Fortunately, they were not life-threatening.
Tyrone Allert was apprehended at his residence on the same day on charges of kidnapping and assault, and was subsequently taken into custody on July 26. He faced charges of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, attempted rape, rape, kidnapping, racially aggravated harassment, assault of an emergency personnel, possession of an offensive weapon (a knife), and hazardous driving.
The court was informed that on July 24, 2022, the 28-year-old female victim had been consuming alcohol with friends when Tyrone Allert, recognising her intoxication, provided her with additional alcohol and transported her in the rear of his van. He thereafter made further stops in an effort to engage in sexual intercourse with the victim, attempting to coerce her into compliance.
Upon his arrest, Tyrone Allert subjected an officer to racial slurs before ultimately assaulting him, resulting in injuries that needed hospital care. The Metropolitan Police reports that the officer has fully recovered.
The victim explicitly stated her unwillingness to engage in sexual activity.
Tyrone Allert asserted that the victim had acquiesced to entering the van and engaging in sexual intercourse with him. However, upon examination of his mobile phone, authorities discovered recordings showing him verbally abusing and hitting the victim.
The victim in the footage was clearly heard to say that she didn’t want to have sex, and at one point she said, ‘This is rape. ’ The footage also showed her attempting to escape from the van, but Tyrone Allert continually pushed her back inside.
Tyrone Allert appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Tuesday (April 9) where he was sentenced to 12 years in prison. This would be followed by five years on an extended licence for the false imprisonment and attempted rape of a woman.
He was previously convicted at the same court following trial on November 14, 2023, where he had pleaded guilty to assault (ABH), racially aggravated harassment, assault on an emergency worker, possession of an offensive weapon and dangerous driving.
Detective Constable Iain McDonald, investigating, said: “The victim-survivor in this case has been incredibly brave. Realising the danger she was in, she fought tirelessly to escape Tyrone Allert, who is a violent predator.”
He added: “We are dedicated to protecting women and girls, eradicating sexual violence caused largely at the hands of predatory men such as Tyrone Allert, and to supporting those who are impacted by sexual assault and/or rape. The effects of sexual offences can be long-lasting, but I sincerely hope that the victim can move forward with her life, leaving Tyrone Allert and his despicable actions behind her.”
