A vicious rapist, Jacob Negus, who strangled his victim until she fell unconscious before abusing her, has been jailed for 15 years.
Jacob Negus, 24, began communicating with the woman on a dating app and met her the following day in August 2022.
Negus grew domineering after a month or so of dating, threatening to stop seeing her unless she deleted guys from her social media profiles.
The woman chose to end communication, but Negus later sent flowers and apologised, and the pair went on to date on and off for a couple of months.
In 2023, at his then house in Maxey, near Peterborough, Negus turned violent.
On one occasion, he strangled the woman until she lost consciousness, leaving her with a burst blood vessel in her eye.
She understood he was raping her when she woke up.
Negus yanked her hair, had her stand, and strangled her once more after realising she was awake.
Negus also verbally abused her, threatened to hurt her, and bruised her thighs after grasping them during the relationship.
Later, the woman told a family member about the violence and called the police.
Negus, of Leofric Close, Crowland, Lincolnshire, was found guilty of rape, intentional strangulation, and engaging in coercive and controlling behaviour in an intimate relationship.
He was sentenced to 15 years in jail on Thursday, June 25, at Cambridge Crown Court.
