Fharharde Uddin, a reckless driver, intentionally collided with a woman, inflicting severe injuries that necessitated surgery; yet, he has not been charged with attempted murder.
Fharharde Uddin admitted culpability for striking a woman, known to him, with his vehicle while she was traversing Whitehawk Crescent in Brighton on August 19 of the previous year.
According to the police, he was observed attempting to force the woman into the back passenger seat.
The woman sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital, where she underwent surgery.
Fharharde Uddin confessed to inflicting grievous bodily harm through reckless driving and obstructing justice during a session at Lewes Crown Court on December 6.
Fharharde Uddin, 27, currently unemployed and without a permanent residence, is scheduled for sentencing on February 14 of the following year.
Duncan Elliott, detective inspector, said: “Fharharde Uddin had been due to stand trial this week, but because of our investigation and the evidence presented in court, he has admitted the charges.
“This was an incident related to domestic abuse, and we encourage anyone who is impacted by domestic abuse to report it to us. You are not alone, help is available.
“We were determined to ensure a successful prosecution in this case, and the defendant now awaits sentencing.”
