In 2022, Brandon Woolven, the Barnsley Rapist, a lady endured a “ferocious” rape by a stranger while walking her dog and feared for her life until bystanders interfered, according to police reports.
A woman in her 20s was seized by 22-year-old Brandon Woolven while she was walking in a wooded area near Pontefract Road, Barnsley, on the morning of Thursday, April 14.
He forcibly led her to a more isolated location before perpetrating assault and rape.
Two brave joggers observed the situation and intervened, extracting him from the victim.
One individual was assaulted, but successfully restrained Brandon Woolven until the police arrived and apprehended him.
Brandon Woolven, of no fixed address but who comes from Brighton, was described as “a truly dangerous individual”.
He admitted rape, two counts of sexual assault and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was jailed for 11-and-a-half years.
Brandon Woolven was also handed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
